To a physicist, the word consists of matter and energy, The study of physics encompasses the area: force & motion, light, sound, electricity magnetism and structure of matter. Thus the basic fields. Further it is very essential for all the engineering students to have the knowledge of fundamentals of different aspects of physics, so as to apply them in various engineering fields e.g. semiconductor physics in microelectronics, optics in optical fiber communication, optical amplification and multiplication, magnetic properties in computer memories, lasers for various industrial applications, and the modern physics in nuclear power generation etc.

The department of physics at BBIT was established to provide adequate support to all undergraduate programs in engineering. Engineering physics is being taught in the first year of B.Tech Program in all the. These programs help adequately in growing demand of the need of research in basic science and Materials Science.  

The department hopes that by giving central importance to research activities the existing lab will be improved in future with most advanced equipment so that research and teaching would translate the findings of the scientific and technological research into an impact which will make a difference to industry as such and the society as a whole. This research laboratory will also enrich the quality of education being imparted to undergraduate students.


Department of Chemistry at BBIT infuses basic concepts of chemistry especially relevant to engineering disciplines.  Along with the overall objectives of the institute, the objective of the Chemistry Department is to develop fundamental knowledge related to the theoretical and technical knowledge for sustainable and analytical solutions to the problems of scientific and social interests. Faculty members from the Department are also responsible for developing good academic individuals among the students by imparting guidance and mentoring them.

The undergraduate students of all engineering departments are allotted regular chemistry practical classes during their first year tenure. It is mandatory for all the students to perform the experiments individually and to maintain a record of observation of different experiments. Evaluation system includes viva-voce to check the conceptual knowledge of the experiments.

The requirements of the department are supported by the good infrastructure including a spacious laboratory, covering an area of more than 150 sq. meters and having the capacity to accommodate 30 students at a time. The department has a near future vision to develop a preliminary research laboratory to do basic scientific research work. 



Mathematical techniques are essential part of analytical and logical reasoning of all learning’s. Therefore it is imperative for all professionals to have sound knowledge of Mathematics. Department of Mathematics was established since the inception of BBIT. It has been delivering courses on Engineering Mathematics and other courses required by various Engineering Departments. In the process many new courses were formulated looking into the needs. Today, we are a big Department equipped with highly qualified faculty members, doing basic research in the following areas: Functional analysis, Operator Theory, Operator Inequalities, Special Functions, Numerical Analysis, Modern Algebra, Algebraic Coding Theory, Thermal Instability in Incompressible Fluids, Commutative and Computational Algebra, Operation Research, Fluid Dynamics, Fractals and Simulation, Complex Analysis.

The Department imparts Soft Skill and Personality Development trainings along with academic pedagogy.
